  • Photo by @andy_bardon | After harvesting ripe agave from the outskirts of Guadalajara, Mexico, jimadors shave down the plants farther to prepare them for the process of tequila production. The skills of jimadors have been passed down over generations. Their work is physically demanding and takes both expertise and experience. Boom-bust cycles occur within the tequila industry due to the availability of raw materials, creating sustainability challenges for workers. Consumers have begun requesting supply chain transparency to gain insight into the products they are purchasing and the communities they come from. Follow @andy_bardon for more images from the road less traveled.
  • Photo by @renan_ozturk | A cowboy and a climber stand atop the North Six Shooter tower in the northern end of Bears Ears National Monument, Utah. It's easy to see why this land is so hotly contested between Native Americans, ranchers, climbers, extractive industries, and others. I hope that sharing images of it and inviting more people to travel here responsibly will help forge the best path forward. Follow @renan_ozturk for more from Bears Ears.
  • Photo by @max.lowe I On a lucky day of clear skies during our flight into base camp, the massif of Denali—the highest peak in North America—and the expanse of the lower Ruth Glacier were exposed in their full glory. Nowhere else in the world have I seen such expanses of wild mountains than while traveling across Alaska en route to Denali National Park. To see more mountain images follow @max.lowe.
  • Photo by @daisygilardini | Harp seal pups, like this one in Canada, are born on sea ice from late February to March. At birth they are covered in a beautiful white coat that lasts for a couple of weeks. After that dark, waterproof hair grows in.
Pups are skinny at birth, weighing around 10 to 12 kilograms. Mothers stay and nurse pups for a period of 12 days—a short time by mammal standards. Their superfat milk helps pups gain two kilograms of blubber a day. Once weaned, at around 40 kilograms, the pups stay on the ice for another six weeks before entering the water and learning how to hunt by themselves.

  • Photos by David Guttenfelder @dguttenfelder // Sponsored by @intercontinental // To grasp the massive scale of Tokyo, the world’s most populous city, it's best to start by looking across this complex cityscape from above. But the only way to truly explore and understand Tokyo is to descend down, get lost, and start walking the maze of its lively streets. A megacity of steel and concrete like Tokyo may seem gray and impersonal, but when I go out exploring with my camera I find surprising splashes of color and intimate moments everywhere. This modern, frenetic city often feels futuristic. But tucked away are sublime reminders of the past, beautifully preserved cultural traditions, and serene hidden spaces. // With every journey you take, enhance your stay with @intercontinental Hotel & Resorts for an unforgettable experience. #InterContinentalLife

  • Photo by @TasneemAlsultan | At-Turaif, dating to the early 18th century, was the home of the royal family and served as the seat of government during the first Saudi state. Now that it is open to the public, visitors can walk alongside the walls with projections and listen to the bustle of the streets. #AtTuraif #SaudiArabia #Diriyah
  • Photo by @mathiassvold | Fort William is most famous for being the gateway to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the U.K., but down in the valley the view is stunning as well. I visited the Scottish Highlands in May and came across this small creek surrounded by beautiful green colors. Follow me @mathiassvold for more stories and nature images.

Stars from the constellation Orion appear at top left, and the light of a faraway city illuminates the horizon.
